Grandparentpalooza!

This past weekend, Sara James enjoyed visits from both sets of grandparents, and let me tell you, she loved every minute of it! Tricia's parents came up Saturday afternoon to stay with SJC while Tricia and I went to prom (don't worry, we were chaperones) that evening. Sara James got up from her nap to find Nana and Piper in the house...much to her excitement! They apparently had a ball together, and although Sara James hasn't gone into detail concerning their night together, I think it probably involved some staying up late and the watching of some Elmo. By the time she went down for her nap on Sunday, Sara James was worn out, but awoke bright-eyed to greet Pops and Mimi that afternoon. They were kind enough to spend the next few hours on the floor of SJC's bedroom as she worked on puzzles, pushed her baby stroller around, and generally showed off. I'm not sure she knew what to do with all the attention, but she certainly didn't shy away from it! I didn't have many opportunities for pictures, but here are a few that we've been enjoying:

Bath Time

All we have to do is ask Sara James if she wants to take a bath, and she runs to the stairs leading up to her bedroom and bath. She'll dart in the bathroom, still fully dressed, and pat the side of the tub until I start to run the water. Although she understands that she has undress before climbing in the water, she does so impatiently. However, once she's in, she has the time of her life! Here she is in action:

...and the ultrasound says, it's a boy!

This afternoon Tricia and I stood/laid on a table in the OB/GYN's office as the staff performed the standard ultrasound. Our tech was great. She took time to explain every bone, chamber, and ventricle to us, but all the while, I just wanted her to get the bottom line. Truthfully, we're most happy that we have a healthy baby. All the measurements and weights are as they should be, he's growing exactly as he should, and for that we are blessed more than we can fully know. All that to say, Emerson (from both my Dad's and maternal grandfather's first name, Emory) Smith (my mother's maiden name) Carver is due at the end of July, and we can't wait for you all to meet him!

Party Animal

This past weekend, we celebrated the first birthday of Brian, the son of our friends Lee and Jayme. They threw a wonderful party at Gymboree, and Sara James had an absolute ball! To watch her, you would have thought the entire party had been thrown in her honor. She beamed every minute we were there, and only stopped running/bouncing/laughing/jumping when the cupcakes were made available. Here she is in action:
